Internet Data Centers have special power needs that require constant monitoring. The AcquiSuite can provide timely information about the power consumption, breaker levels, and environment within the data center. Below is a sample configuration along with some suggested monitoring points. The AcquiSuite can handle a wide range of devices, so you can easily mix and match the components to suit your needs.
Power from the mains is monitored with the Veris H8036 power meter. The H8036 can monitor power, voltage, power factor for the entire building if needed.
The Veris H8238 Multi Circuit Meter (MCM) has eight separate power meters on a single board, and can be used to monitor the power going out to various distribution panels in the building. Each of the meters in the MCM can monitor power, voltage, frequency, power factor and KWh for the separate lines.
The Veris H704/H663 Branch Current Monitor can be used to monitor circuit breaker loads. Each breaker on the panel is monitored independently, and the AcquiSuite will report the load on each breaker to help prevent overloading breakers. As equipment is added, the BCM will allow you to keep track of the load on each breaker, and identify which breaker should have its' load divided.

Environmental information can be obtained using the A8923 IO Module. This device allows any 4-20ma, 0-10V and pulse devices to be attached to the AcquiSuite. For example, the temperature in the server room can be monitored by the Veris HD series temperature sensor. If the equipment is in a basement, the Veris MX series moisture detector can be placed under the floor panels to detect water where network cables may be run. A wide selection of environmental measurements can be obtained with the A8923 IO module including CO, CO2, temperature, humidity, and pressure; any 4-20ma or 0-10v device can be used.
The AcquiSuite can be attached to the building LAN for on-site status viewing, and data reporting. The AcquiSuite can use either a telephone line or 10Mbit ethernet connection commonly available in a data center.
When used with the Building Manager Online service, system operators can be notified by e-mail when any alarm conditions occur. The BMO service also allows operators to check data to find trends and locate intermittent problems. Because the AcquiSuite is an internet-ready device, it can be accessed with a standard web browser and also supports FTP for data collection.
