Government
State and federal governments have made commitments to cut energy and other utility usage through aggressive programs including the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Program initiatives are generally rolled out quickly providing little direction or instruction, frustrating energy managers tasked to complete them. Many agencies find themselves spending significant resources on consulting and design ultimately delaying their implementation.

Obvius provides a proven, cost-effective hardware solution used by several government customers. We have helped solve many of the issues mentioned above and can make your implementation quick and easy focusing on "plug & play" connectivity. Our systems are compatible with most meter manufacturers and meter types providing a flexible, scalable metering system that can be expanded to incorporate enterprise level projects. Our AcquiSuite is compatible with nearly any front-end software platform allowing customers to use a variety of reporting tools whether it's an on-site server or an agency-wide enterprise reporting suite.

Government - General Market Summary

The EPAct '05 states that federal buildings need to be submetered with access to 15 minute interval data from all meters. Some agencies have been given little in the way of direction or resources to accomplish the tasks laid out in the metering portion of the new policy. Obvius provides a flexible, low cost solution for submetering. The first do-it-yourself solution for metering utilizes plug-and-play connectivity with limitless options for meter types and manufacturers. The freedom to pick-and-choose a suitable software application allows expandability for the meter program to cover individual institutions all the way up to an agency-wide software suite. In addition to the front-end, users are allowed the

Product Specific Summary

AcquiSuite Data Acquisition Server

The “plug & play” AcquiSuite automatically detects and configures Modbus devices in just seconds. Data from the connected Modbus devices are time stamped and stored in memory at user selected intervals. This interval data can be stored by the AcquiSuite or updated to a destination of the users choice through XML or CSV. Data can also be accessed using the modem or LAN connection using any web browser. This enables the user/contractor to push/pull data into energy kiosks, building dashboards, or other custom software applications, or web interfaces. The A8812-1 has 8 flex IO inputs, each input can monitor analog, resistance, or pulse data.

Modhopper Wireless Transceiver

The Modhopper provides a self optimizing wireless interface between multiple Modbus devices & the AcquiSuite server. The device uses 900mhz, FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum) technology. It's the perfect solution for wireless communication with solar current monitors, net meters, inverters, and environmental sensors (weather stations). There are two pulse inputs available on each Modhopper and users can connect up to 32 hardwired Modbus devices. The R9120-3 has a range up to 1500ft (typical indoor). Combining Modhoppers with the AcquiSuite and sensors from Obvius provides solar users and contractors with a complete wireless monitoring package.

Enercept Power Meter

The Enercept Meter made by Veris Industries is currently available on the Obvius GSA Schedule. This meter installs very quick and easy because it has the meter built into the CTs and there is no display box to mount and configure. The Enercept Meters have Modbus protocol output to connect to the ModHopper or directly into an AcquiSuite for data management and storage. This is one of the many meters there is plug-and-play support for on the AcquiSuite data acquisition server.

Weatherstation

The Obvius Weather-Station is perfect for all your environmental sensing needs. If its solar irradiance, wind speed & direction, temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, or cell temperature you need we can custom create a weatherstation that fits your project. We can provide this technology in a traditional hardwired, wireless, and even solar powered format.

By integrating the Weather station with the AcquiSuite™ and Modhopper subsystems, users are able to bring “plug and play” capability to the  meteorological market, dramatically reducing the time and cost associated with integrating such a system into an existing monitoring system as it automatically detects and configures Modbus devices in just seconds reducing installation time and costs.

Badger Orion Integration

Often water or gas meters may be located in areas without readily available access to a 110VAC power source to power a ModHopper. Badger Meter has developed a solution for this type of issue in the Orion battery powered pulse transmitters. These transmitters wirelessly report back to a receiver module which then has a serial output. Obvius has recently developed a full-scale integration of the data from the receiver module into our own ModHopper and AcquiSuite system. There has never been a more cost effective way to manage data from water, gas and electricity meters on one system.
